Chicago— the “City of the Big Shoulders,” ever-optimistic Cubs fan, industry, and the birthplace of modern architecture following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

High culture intermingles with crass commercialism, creating a beautiful city pulsing with energy, constantly changing … as it has been from the beginning. Mark Twain said, “Chicago is never the Chicago you saw when you passed through the last time.”  With each visit there are new glistening skyscrapers poking up and changing the skyline.

Millennium Park has been the social gathering place for Chicagoans since 2004. It was built above 24-acres of unsightly railroad tracks and parking lots, creating such a beautiful space it attracts 25 million visitors per year. Everyone wants selfies at “The Bean.” The park is a democratic example of civic beauty at its best, a place for all of Chicago’s diverse population to use and intermingle.
