Our retail store and web/mail order business operate out of an old limestone storefront, which was built as a grocery store in the 1870’s. Originally my store began as a bicycle store. When we added Birkenstock sandals to our inventory, the response was so strong, the store morphed into a Birkenstock concept store. Early on we noticed that more than half our customers drove in from out of town. That led us to believe there was an opportunity to reach out-of-towner customers with mail order catalogs. That in turn led to our web business. Though we now have lots of other brands, we don’t really think of ourselves as a traditional shoe store, rather we believe we provide foot health and comfort, one customer at a time. We have been doing that for the last 35 years.
We are a small business with strong ties to our local community. There are just _ people working here. If you have a Birkenstock need, question or repair, we can probably help you with it.
Though we love our Birkenstock footwear, we realize that they may not be the perfect choice for every use or occasion. We have looked at hundreds of shoe brands and found our personal favorites that we think will make you happy. In addition to Birkenstock, our longtime favorites are Dansko, Keen and Chaco. However, we have recently added _____, _____, _____ shoes to our line and we are very impressed. We wear what we sell and daily work with customers in our retail store trying on all the shoes you see on our website. We have feedback from thousands of people. So don’t be bashful, we can answer most any question you might have.
Our website is here for your convenience. We do our best to make it informative, and easy to use. However, nothing can replace human interaction. We are here to provide the things an automated website can’t. We look forward to speaking with you
Birkenstock Family of Brands
As you can tell from the Footprints logo above, it is different from the logo of our store. Though this wonderful line of Footprints shoes shares our name, we are not related except for the fact that we have been believing in them, wearing them and selling them for the past few decades. Footprints is another of the brands in the Birkenstock Family of Brands. They all share a common heritage of 200 years of designing and manufacturing comfortable footwear. A complete understanding of the human foot and how it works is at the core of every shoe they make. Inside each pair of Footprints shoes you will find contoured cork footbeds similar to the contours you would find in Birki’s and Papillio but less bulky. Footprints’ cork footbeds are less thick and bulky for a couple of reasons. Since the footbeds are protected inside an enclosed shoe, they are not subjected to the same amount of wear and tear. Also, you are able to build a more attractive shoe around a trimmer footbed. The comfort and foot-health benefits you receive from wearing Birkenstock sandals would be similar to what you would get from wearing Footprints shoes. The support is just a little less pronounced. Footprints shoes were made in Europe in exacting detail. With up to twenty different parts in each shoe, it is a time consuming process to coordinate and requires precision. The uppers are cut and stitched in Italy, then shipped the Portugal to be hand-stitched to polyurethane soles, then shipped to Germany to have the cork footbeds installed and boxed. Footprints Shoes are made of the finest materials following rigorous European environmental and labor standards. In a world where there is so much pressure to make things cheaper in China, we are proud to represent Footprints and all the other Birkenstock family of brands
